Patterson Companies, Inc. Product Manager I in Effingham, Illinois


Responsible for managing the product through the majority product lifecycle in support of organizational strategy and objectives.The position requires the ability to interview business partners and clients and perform market research to analyze trends. This position is responsible for internal day- to- day management of product line. Works closely with business units, support, business analysts and development. Gathers input for development of product line priorities. Serves as the software development department’s lead point of contact for internal questions relating to product design/features and is responsible for developing functional specifications for product releases.


Documentation of Market requirements:

  • Monitors and understands market needs and trends to identify and document product requirements.

  • Reviews and remains current on competitive offerings to assess feature sets and technology needs.

  • Monitors regulatory landscape to document and communicate impact on current and future products. Participates in customer research and focus groups.


  • Collaborates and delegates tasks while overseeing and serving as the primary point of contact for the product requirements, design, implementation, delivery and support.

  • Develops and approves functional specifications. Trains support on new products and new features on existing products.

  • Participates in the beta process by serving as the liaison between the customer, development, QA and support

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in MIS, IT, Computer Science or a related industry degree preferred or a combination of equivalent education and experience

  • At least 5 years of industry experience working with the design, development, and implementation of software and hardware solutions, systems, and/or products

  • Ability to work effectively within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced changing environment -- multi-tasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner

  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization

  • Strong organizational, attention to detail and task follow-up skills. Adept at handling multiple assignments in a timely manner and meeting assigned deadlines

  • Demonstrated project management skills and project management software skills.

  • Strong understanding of the organization's goals and objectives
