BMO Financial Group Finance Manager in Chicago, Illinois
The Finance Manager, BMO US is accountable to support the Senior Finance Relationship Manager to provide advice and service to business leaders on financial management activities and ensure performance and business plans are aligned to optimize performance in all areas including funding, cost management and productivity. The Relationship Manager, BMO US is part of a financial center of competence that will support the businesses medium to long term strategic planning. The role will support assigned business unit leadership in achieving financial goals through the provision of decision support including information, expertise, advice and recommendations. This role is accountable to monitor and/or review financial plans, forecasts and objectives and provide governance for issue identification and reporting for BMO US client groups, escalating issues to the Senior Relationship Manager and/or Corporate Controller, as required.
Business Delivery & Operational Effectiveness
Coordinate, review and validate business unit planning and forecasting activities for consistency in achieving overall business strategic plans, providing financial advice and decision support where required.
Provide financial analysis, planning and forecasting to identify strengths, opportunities, weaknesses and threats, and develop recommendations for plans to address.
Prepare, analyze and communicate financial results for the business unit to various stakeholders within Finance and across BMO US.Interpret financial results for the business unit, highlighting trends and underlying causes and determining the key financial performance messages.
Provide support on ad hoc strategy and analytics projects for the business
Client & Relationship Management
Build strong relationships and provide value add advice to clients to ensure financial results are well understood and business results optimized.
Provide proactive, creative solutions and analysis, including cost allocation principles, methodology and activity based costing, to support business financial and strategic initiatives and achievement of business strategies and financial targets.
Work in partnership with the business and the Senior Relationship Manager, to assist in optimal structuring of new initiatives and strategies, ensure that structures comply with regulatory rules and guidelines.
Support business group financial performance management activities, providing business group decision makers and Senior Relationship Managers with financial information, advice and counsel.
Risk Management and Control
- Provide leadership on financial processes for the business unit ensuring accurate recording/reporting/communication of all transactions.
Change & Innovation
Participate in various initiatives and projects providing financial advice and expertise on impacts to the supported business group.
Optimize the use of new technology and information systems updates to improve processes and system efficiencies.
Ability to identify continuous process improvements.
Provide end-to-end process/report design and implementation.
Managerial Leadership (Note: Not accountable to formally manage direct reports)
- Support the learning and development of more Junior Analyst roles within the team, acting as a “go to” person for questions and concerns and optimizing succession planning.
Knowledge and Skills
Strong Excel Skills (ability to build financial reports/models from scratch quickly)
Experience Managing Full P&L/Balance Sheet View of Financials
Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting required
Proficiency in Essbase preferred
