Job Description / Information

This position is responsible for the continuous supply and timely purchase of raw materials, supplies and services to support the production of a final product. Is responsive to the needs of internal customers and external suppliers. Responsible for purchasing materials and supplies for assigned commodities/vendors. Becomes familiar with standard processes, practices, and procedures within assigned commodities. Relies on experience, ethics and business judgment to plan and accomplish goals and tasks. Works under limited supervision. Proactive approach on process improvements within Purchasing. Ability to influence key stakeholders on strategic decisions

  • Plan and purchase material requirements based on analysis of ERP reports and forecasts to determine demand and optimal order quantity, per Sage product specification

  • Maintain continuous material availability and manage inventories to maximize business efficiency.

  • Maintain strong relationships with suppliers

  • Process changes in accordance with GMP expectations; maintain BOM’s (bill of materials)

  • Continuously develop and maintain market and technical knowledge

  • Analyze price trends and assess their impact on future activities

  • Look for process improvement opportunities

  • Issues and maintains purchase orders for assigned commodities and supplies

  • Expedite/follow through on receipt and payment

  • Collaborate with other Stryker department

  • Liaise effectively with suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments and customers.

  • Reconcile invoicing issues

  • Attend meetings, tradeshows and conferences to learn new industry trends and make contacts with suppliers

  • Resolve any Receiving issues (discrepancies, incorrect paperwork, etc.) with Suppliers and Sage Accounting.

  • Monitor supplier performance ensuring that a level of quality consistent with company standards is maintained

  • Communicate effectively with suppliers, problem-solve challenges and issues, recommend solutions

  • Monitor and disposition obsolete materials, excess material, scrap and supplier returns

  • Assure compliance by following Food and Drug Administration’s Good Manufacturing Practices as well as other regulatory standards as required by the department

  • Complete special projects as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5 – 10 years’ Purchasing experience

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred with emphasis in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Materials Management, Logistics or Engineering

  • Technical Knowledge:
