Riverside HealthCare Oncology RN in Bourbonnais, Illinois
The Oncology Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing the needs of each patient and planning the nursing care needed to meet those needs, including the spiritual, emotional, psychosocial, and physiological needs. The RN is then responsible for meeting those needs herself or for referring to other areas as deemed necessary. The staff nurse is supervised by the Director of the Cancer Center.
PART III: POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
Administers chemotherapy, medications, and blood products in a safe and appropriate manner.
Assists physicians with exams and procedures.
Calls or e-scripts new and renewal prescriptions with physician approval.
Ensures accurate and current documentation on all patients.
Gives updates to insurance companies. Pre certifies patients with insurance companies.
Identifies problems and needs requiring intervention by another department of the hospital or an outside agency.
Maintains chemo precautions within the clinic.
Maintains well stocked and clean work space.
Obtains appropriate consent forms for procedures/treatments.
Performs blood draws peripherally or per a venous access device.
Transports patients as necessary.
Utilizes the computer system appropriately for order entry, pulling up results and input of patient charges on a daily basis.
Experience/Education Requirements:Graduate of an approved school of nursing, BSN preferred.
License or Certification Requirements:Current Illinois RN licenseOCN certification preferred or ONS chemo training classBLS certification preferred
