US Foods Senior Manager, Health & Welfare Plans in Rosemont, Illinois
The Senior Manager is responsible for managing the Health & Welfare programs and vendors including management of company’s wellness program and identification of vendor alignment opportunities. Particular emphasis will be placed on health care and wellness strategies that will impact cost trends. In addition, this position will focus on supporting the Labor Relations team to assist with the formulation and application of the company strategy to labor contracts. Will work closely with the Sr. Director of Health & Welfare Benefits to insure health and welfare plans align with the business initiatives of US Foods and that the programs are effective in attracting and retaining a high performance workforce.
Lead activities with outside consultants/partners to gather, analyze and interpret data that will assist with formulation of the company’s health & welfare benefit strategy design.
Develop a company-wide wellness program that will lead to decreased cost and enhanced company value.
Manage the annual election process and administrator.
Actively manage the vendors for all benefits ensuring customer service levels remain high while providing relevant, required and timely data.
Ensure effective delivery of benefit offerings and build plans for continuous improvement.
Oversee the communication of the company’s benefit plans and programs.
When selecting vendors for health and welfare programs, manage the entire RFP process. Activities include analysis of vendor responses, site visits and recommendation of preferred vendor.
Provide strategic direction and support Labor Relations team to compare and analyze union benefit plans, formulate and apply company’s strategy to labor contracts and insure union benefit plans are administered appropriately.
Meet regularly with health and welfare, wellness partners and consultants to review trends and analyze effectiveness of wellness programs and implement enhancements; report on key healthcare cost metrics and report out to key stakeholders.
Continue to be well-versed of healthcare reform and other legislative / regulatory changes and determine the impact to benefit plans, employees and the company. Develop action plans to ensure compliance with regulations.
Work closely with Human Resource Technology on systems impacting benefits (Workday) and third party integrations. Collaborate with Legal, Procurement and Total Rewards.
Oversee the management and compliance of the leave administration process.

Education/Training: Minimum four year degree and deep subject matter expertise in all facets of health & welfare plan design and administration. Industry designations preferred but not required (CEBS, PHR, etc.)
Related Experience: Seven plus years benefits/compensation experience in large company, with a minimum of five years at the manager level, including direct involvement in strategy, design and administration.

- Experienced in creating and delivering presentations with confidence to upper management
- Outstanding judgment and discretion with confidential matters
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
