Responsibilities:

We are currently seeking an Electrical Simulation Analyst for our Northbrook office! This position will be responsible for all modeling for Electrical Safety! If you are someone who is experience in Electrical Engineering, has solid software experience, and interested in being a subject matter expert (SME), this is the opportunity for you! Other responsibilities as an Electrical Simulation Analyst identifies fundamental knowledge needed to enhance UL's industry service offerings and support the strategy of the aligned categories. Specifically wind turbine modeling.



Other Responsibilities:

n

+ Applies intensive and diverse knowledge of engineering technology and systems engineering concepts to the specific research tasks.

n

+ Exercises a high degree of judgment in formulating, evaluating, and correlating broad engineering research concepts and guiding the analysis of unique problems and developing new and improved techniques and methods.

n

+ Analyzes data from multiple sources in order to determine causes of problems and develop solutions, and evaluates technical specifications and factors related to process or design objectives.

n

+ Stays ahead of changing technologies, in the field by reading journals and scientific publications, attending academic conferences, writing and collaborating on original publications, and delivering presentations on research engineering topics.

n

+ Collaborates with industry, academics and other research and development staff to apply the results of research used to develop new techniques, products, practices and UL Standards.

n

+ Maintains and develops extensive knowledge of current and new technologies for simulation and modeling.

n

+ Performs other duties as directed.

Qualifications:

n

Qualifications for a Electrical Simulation Analyst:



n

n

+ Minimum of MS (or PhD) in Electrical Engineering with a focus on electromagnetics modeling

n

+ Demonstrated general knowledge of electromagnetics

n

+ Demonstrated knowledge of modeling approaches in EM

n

+ Demonstrated ability to apply EM modeling tools (ANSYS Simplorer/Maxwell preferred, HFSS)

n

+ Industry Experience a plus

n

+ Ability to work with global teams
