pharmaceutical, pulp & paper and mining industries. Since its founding more

located in 50 countries. Today, John Crane provides the most complete
selection of engineered mechanical seals, sealing support systems and
mechanical packing, complemented by power transmission couplings. We are
currently seeking a Manager, EHS for John Crane Americas to join our team in
Morton Grove, IL. John Crane Americas (JCA) operations are located in Canada,
U.S., Mexico, Venezuela, Argentina, Chile, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Colombia, and
Ireland. SUMMARY : The Manager, EHS is responsible for ensuring the health,
safety, and welfare of its employees, contractors, and others affected by its
business operations through world-class EHS performance. This person is
further accountable for compliance with regulations and recognized standards
for health, safety, and the environment that are applicable to the business
and key stakeholders. Finally, the person is responsible for helping John
Crane and Smiths Group achieve EHS performance goals, including Recordable
Injury Rate, Energy and Greenhouse Gas Emissions, Water Consumption, Waste
Disposal, and Loss Prevention (LP). Key Responsibilities : Establishes JCA
EHS/LP strategies and goals necessary to achieve excellence in performance.
Implements and maintains JCA Management Systems, including ISO 14001 and OHSAS
18001 certifications Develops and implements JCA EHS/LP policies, standards,
guidelines and programs to meet the overall improvement strategy Defines,
develops, implements and leads common best practice-based safety systems and
drives cultural change and continuous improvement processes to deliver world-
class EHS performance. Monitors key EHS performance metrics to measure
performance progress and to evaluate EHS/LP programs effectiveness. Advises
organization leaders on performance improvements. Provides strategic direction
and assistance to JCA facilities. Works with regional management teams to
support EHS continuous improvement activities. Develops two-way communication
with employees, customers, contractors, and suppliers regarding EHS policies
and procedures. Participates in external EHS organizations and trade
associations to understand emerging EHS trends and represent JCA interests.
Provides interpretation and guidance on compliance processes for EHS laws and
regulations as well as for internal policies, standards, guidelines, and
goals. Manage the JCA EHS/LP audit process to provide assurance that
management systems are in place and the organization is in compliance with
applicable laws, regulations and company policies. Develops, implements, and
oversees JCA specific training programs. Provides technical EHS/LP specialty
support to JCA facilities. Identifies key EHS/LP issues impacting the
business for management attention and action. Works with facility and line
management to assure that competent EHS/LP personnel are in place at each
facility and that professional talent development is occurring. Co-Chairs the
JCA EHS Forum and member of the JC EHS Council. Performs all tasks in
accordance with JC and Smiths Group Business Conduct Guidelines. Ability to
travel up to 50%. MINIMUM Q ualifications : 5-10 years of progressive
experience leading EHS/LP in an international and multi-site organization,
with a proven record of establishing premier programs and delivering
significant continuous performance improvement. Experienced and comfortable
working with organization senior leaders. Experienced at leading ISO 14001 and
OHSAS 18001 (or equivalent) environmental, health and safety management
systems. Experience in machining or heavy industrial manufacturing. Experience
managing relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. Ability
to develop and present concise business cases tailored to the needs of the
organization and audience. Strong influencing and interpersonal skills with
the ability to gain commitment at all levels within the organization. Ability
to focus on strategic issues, but also capable of getting involved with
details, where necessary. Possesses cross-cultural skills necessary to operate
successfully with international locations. High level of professional and
personal conduct, energy and enthusiasm, requiring limited oversight. Capable
of assessing EHS organizational weaknesses and providing recommendations for
improvement. Experienced at identifying development needs of site EHS leads
and, in conjunction with supervisors, implement individual talent development
plans. Knowledgeable in the technical fundamentals of safety management and
risk assessments and risk reduction, including machinery and process safety,
industrial hygiene, loss prevention, ergonomics, and occupational health.
Knowledgeable in the fundamentals of fire protection and loss prevention
engineering. Excellent presentation and training skills. Excellent
communication skills, both written and verbal. Excellent analytical and
problem-solving skills. Skilled at using Microsoft Office software (Word,
Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.). Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
