Engineering Intern Job Description GENERAL ACTIVITY: Position aims to
develop students by allowing the incumbent to apply academic knowledge in a
professional environment. This experience will significantly aid in the
attainment of future career opportunities. From a John Crane perspective, the
program aims to create a pool of qualified candidates for potential full-time
positions who are familiar with the company, products, procedures and culture.
Successful intern hires will have the opportunity to experience one or more
assignments with a Supervisor, Manager, or Senior staff member Primary
Duties: 1. Reviews applications with the local John Crane representatives to
make specific recommendations for MTBF improvement. 2. Compiles pertinent
information by investigating, analyzing and evaluating problems related to
product performance and application specific criteria in the field with the
customer. Will include the measuring of rotating equipment. 3. Observes the
installation and commissioning of mechanical seals and their auxiliary support
systems.
4. Serves, collects and evaluates customer data while working with the
salesman and/or regional engineer. Then reports seal program’s results
utilizing John Crane’s current reliability management software, e.g.,
INTERFACE . 5. Analyzes the equipment survey for inventory optimization
opportunities within current consignment management guidelines. 6. Maintains
John Crane‘s equipment survey . 7. Communicates orally and in writing with
customers, company personnel, and vendors providing counseling and
recommendations with the assistance of salesman. 8. Collects new equipment
data sheets from customer’s project engineers for review by Account Manager
Regional Engineer. 9. Performs other duties and responsibilities as
necessary to comply with specific contractual terms of the agreement, or as
required by the Branch Manager. 10. Prior to on-site assignment training
will be required for up to 30 days in the respective Branch Office. After
completion of Branch training will be assigned to a site to shadow a CRE. 11.
Monthly reports are required and will be submitted to the Reliability
Engineering Manager. Preferred Requirements for Entry Junior/Senior
Classification with an anticipated graduation date of May 2014. College of
Engineering at a 4 year College/University.
