The Senior Director, Strategy Innovation & Medium Customer Offer Development is responsible for defining customer offer to make Grainger the most relevant solution for medium customers. This leader will ensure Grainger creates a competitive advantage with this $50B segment of the market. Today our business with this group is >$2B. This portion of the market is too large for Grainger to fail. The Sr. Director, Strategy Innovation & Medium Customer Offer Development will be responsible for developing a suite of services and tools which enable Grainger to acquire, penetrate, and retain target customers. Offer effectiveness will be measured by new customer acquisition and retention.

nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES: n





+ Defines and aligns the organization against the targets for medium segment offer development



+ Utilizes research to frame issues for a differentiated offer focused against the chooser and influencer in medium customers



+ Ensures deep understanding of needs, attitudes, and behaviors and develops actionable insights that drive consumer engagement and demand.



+ Possesses deep understanding of the competition for medium customers and ensures Grainger's offer is differentiated in ways that drive value for the customer



+ Creates an aligned perspective across the organization of the medium customer offer today and the roadmap for the future







+ Stewards the holistic view of the offer for each target segment across the organization. The offer includes delivery promise, product portfolio, pricing (freight, product, services), services, solutions, service levels, marketing programs, merchandising and go-to-market model.



+ Works with the merchandising team to ensure the end user offer by industry is on point



+ Works with telesales team and g.com to create a seamless plan for the customer lifecycle







+ Works with the marketing team to ensure all customer marketing materials support Grainger's medium customer strategy. Ensures compliance with the standards and policies for brand messaging.



+ Conducts pilots and proof of concept work to test new ideas in the field and in the digital space



+ Manages brand-related marketing activities that build equity and customer preference.



+ Understands the role and value each touchpoint plays with the medium customer end user and chooser and develops strategy that wins across all



+ Initiates actions to improve the health and effectiveness of Grainger with medium customers



+ Responsible to work with the VP, Marketing and Customer Execution to develop strategic plans and goals established with the ELT and across Company Senior Leaders.



+ Member of the Marketing and Customer Execution Leadership Team



+ Responsible for the development of a suite of effective services, processes and tools that can be executed across the business to enable Grainger to acquire, penetrate, and retain target customers



+ Motivate and lead a high performance strategic team; Mentor direct reports to cultivate skills and to increase consciousness of the interrelationship between each department in the customer lifecycle.



+ Remain knowledgeable of market and industry trends, competitors, and all aspects of Grainger' market.



+ Define, decode and analyze customer tends to assist in developing customer offer strategy.









nREQUIRED EXPERIENCES AND COMPETENCIES:





+ MA/MS/MBA or equivalent is preferred



+ 10+ years of experience in related field is preferred



+ Strong critical thinking skills and creative problem solver



+ Data-driven problem solver ideally with experience in customer and market res arch; strong knowledge of marketing strategies and tactics.



+ Proven ability to manage large-scale cross functional teams and projects



+ Drive outstanding planning, decision-making, facilitating and process improvement through leaders.



+ Fosters CI focus in others; Improves processes, products and services. Excellent interpersonal skills, as evidenced by success in persuading and influencing others without formal authority. Ability to lead, motivate and manage for results

+ Travel up to 30%
