Develop and oversee internal communications strategies to support the company’s vision, mission, priorities and cultural attributes. Consult with CEO and Grainger Leadership Team members on a wide variety of issues. Responsible for creating the overarching strategy and tone for all company-wide internal communications, including CEO and senior leader communications.
Provide counsel on communicating with diverse employee audiences, manage communication vehicles such as the intranet, video, company email, etc., and identify and use new communications technologies as appropriate.
Lead a team of professionals responsible for the creation and deployment of strategic communications at the enterprise level and for key business priorities, including sharing company strategy so team members understand how their work supports company priorities, major change initiatives, and engagement and reputation programs.
Sets internal communication strategy to drive business performance and ensure engaged, aligned workforce of brand advocates.
Sets overarching strategy on the enterprise communications platform, including CEO communications, all employee communications, strategic communications, etc. Leads a team of professionals responsible for the successful execution of strategic plans.
Provides strategic counsel and coaching to CEO and ensures priorities and messaging are aligned and articulated in a manner consistent with overall company strategy.
Oversees direction and delivery of the CEO’s communications by ensuring consistent messaging, appropriate positioning and visibility across Grainger’s audiences. Establishes framework for ensuring that messages optimize the senior leadership voice and advance the reputation of the company.
Sets agenda and provides strategic oversight & direction of company-wide communications, evaluating outcomes to ensure relevancy, quality and return on investment.
Responsible for building strategy to strengthen internal communication networks and messages to align performance and behaviors around strategies that drive team member and company success globally.
Gathers team member sentiment analysis to help senior leaders understand team members’ perspective on company direction, strategy, culture, etc.
Measures effectiveness of Enterprise, CEO and business initiatives communications through a variety of vehicles including communication audits, surveys and informal networks.
Works collaboratively with Senior Director of IR and Senior Director of External Relations to ensure consistency of messaging across various audiences and channels.
Finds and manages outside professional services as needed to support communication objectives.
An MBA or Masters in Communications, Investor Relations, or related field is desirable
15+ years progressive leadership in business and communications.
Proven success influencing senior executives on communications.
Proven ability to attract, develop and retain high performing talent.
Proven ability to lead a high performing team and manage resources for optimal impact.
Strong executive presence and confidence to challenge the status quo with senior leaders.
Strong business acumen and ability to show up as a busines leader and communications expert.
