3M is seeking a Refrigeration Technician for the Material Resource Division located in Cordova, IL.
The person hired for the position of Refrigeration Tech will maintain, repair, and install equipment and facilities. Primary consideration will be given to maintaining the low temperature refrigeration systems in the Fluorochemical factory, and HVAC systems throughout the plant.
Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Installs and repairs industrial refrigeration systems according to blueprints and engineering specifications, using knowledge of refrigeration, structural layout, and functions and design of components.
Complete overhauls of various types of equipment, such as: gear box, pumps, mechanical seals, and refrigeration systems.
Inspect or test damaged machine parts, and mark defective areas or advise supervisors of repair needs.
Dismantle machines and remove parts for repair, using hand tools, chain falls, jacks, cranes, or hoists.
Lift and align components into positions, using hoists or blocks and tackle. Troubleshoots, repairs, calibrates refrigeration systems.
Maintain building-management systems (HVAC). Understand how building air movement (air turnover) is determined, and maintain per engineering design to maintain safe areas (i.e. inlet fans, exhaust fans, room differential pressure).
Read work orders and specifications to determine machines and equipment requiring repair or maintenance.
Provide guidance and recommendations to drive maximum equipment availability in a safe and cost effective manner
Participates in ongoing training. Regulatory training, which includes hazardous material training. Must have completed general GMP orientation.
Assist with the development of trainees and new employees, and other duties as required.
This position will require working:
Holidays as needed
Short notice shift coverage
Frequent physical demands (i.e.: lifting up to 50 lbs.)
Possess a High School Diploma/GED or higher
Valid and current refrigerant certification / license
Minimum three (3) years of industrial refrigeration / HVAC experience
Ability to complete electrical maintenance such as installation/removal of motors and devices up to 480V 3 phase
Experience with PLC programming
Two year technical degree in a maintenance field
Advanced computer skills
Experience troubleshooting and problem solving in a manufacturing environment
Experience in a heavy industrial environment
Experience in machining, metal fabrication and pipefitting
Knowledge and experience with mechanical equipment
Working independently or with teams
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Operating, maintaining and repairing tools and equipment
Location: Cordova, Illinois
