Rush University Medical Center is seeking a Student Intern in the Clinical Systems Department!

Position Highlights:This is an entry-level temporary position for general administrative projects in the IS Clinical Systems department. Projects may be either of a management or technical nature. This individual will perform simple projects with some supervision. The individual should exemplify the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Appropriately involves supervisor as needed for decision making.

  • Follows and supports department policies and procedures.

  • Is an accountable team member; meets agreed deliverables and deadlines; follows IS project processes.

  • Business Sense/Initiative - Begins to identify areas for improvement in daily work; shares observations with peers and manager to improve processes.

  • Meetings - Active meeting participant.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications Include:

  • Either possessing or pursuing a BS/BA degree in computer science, information systems, health care or related fields desirable. May be pursuing a certificate in a computer related community program. Relevant experience may be substituted for formal training.

  • Experience with Desktop applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access).

  • Some technical background, either in advanced coursework or job experience).

  • 0-1 years’ relevant experience.

  • Command of common office tools (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite, Visio, e-mail).

  • Working knowledge of HTML and related web programming languages, in particular knowledge of server-side languages such as PHP is helpful

  • Elementary project management skills.

  • Able to work well as a team member
