We are building a new engineering team in Chicago responsible for architecting and delivering lithium ion battery cabinets and integration capabilities to the entire worldwide organization.Please http://www.vertivco.com for more information on Vertiv.Position OverviewAs a Senior Firmware Engineer, reporting to the Vice President of Business Development, you will be the lead software and firmware developer of the team. In this dynamic environment, you will be called on to do many things, and occasionally be the sole development resource on a project. Position is locatedin Chicago, IL.Responsibilities:


+ Interface with various stakeholders to understand and refine system requirements;


+ Participate as a key resource in the design and implementation of Rack Battery Management System (BMS) to manage third-party lithium ion battery assemblies and integrate them into Vertiv?s line of telecom and UPS products.


+ Implement C and C++ based Linux applications for ARMand Intelplatforms


+ Interface with SQA group to develop design verification test methods;


+ Assist in development of and adherence to Vertiv product development processes and release standards;


+ Occasional travel within USA.


Experience:


+ 10+ years designing and implementing embedded firmware systems on ARM and/or Intel platforms; including experience with Yocto development toolchain;


+ Strong working knowledge of communications protocols within the TCP/IP stack. DNP3, Modbus RTU/TCP, and Field Bus experience very desirable;


+ System level experience with battery and/or power management and hardware design and development very desirable;


+ CAN protocol experience very desirable;


+ Familiarity with source code control systems and issue tracking systems, GIT/Subversion and Jira preferred;


+ Demonstrated history of delivering quality products to market with understanding and respect for all phases of the product development process;


+ Strong specification development skills, including state machine diagramming.
