YRC Freight Field Operations Process Manager in Chicago Heights, Illinois

JOB SUMMARY

The Field Operations Process Manager – will be responsible for identifying, leading and successfully completing large, complex projects to improve processes, reduce cost, improve performance reliability and engage employees. Partners with all business functions at all levels, from hourly employees to senior leadership, and with strategic partners and vendors, to develop programs and strategies that will deliver long term sustainable results. Comply with the agreed schedule, correct specifications, user requirements, approved budget, and other key performance indicators. Additionally, responsible for developing/documenting processes, analyzing and developing key performance indicators, providing statistical controls and monitoring progress.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Partner with business leaders, subject matter experts, project teams, and functional/non-functional partners to identify process improvement opportunities. Drive these opportunities from idea through completion using data driven processes and standard project management tools.

  2. Lead and facilitate cross-functional, multi-location project teams and communicate the teams' progress to business leadership. Measure progress by regularly monitoring performance against defined milestones, as well as improvements in key metrics.

  3. Identify and manage resources required to successfully execute cross-functional or complex projects and drive projects to achieve maximum results.

  4. Facilitate discussions on project priorities and resource requirements for execution.

  5. Develop and validate metrics to measure on-going sustainment.

  6. Coordinate the implementation of best practices, processes and procedures. Educate area and field leadership in standardized work-flows, tools, measurements and practices.

  7. Regularly communicate project status to all associated levels of group and field management personnel to support them in their goal attainment efforts.

  8. Provide guidance and opportunities that encourage and support employee involvement in continuous improvement.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Business, or related field.

  2. Five (5) years of experience in operations.

  3. Demonstrated ability to lead and manage projects from conception to final stages.

  4. Knowledge and understanding of process improvement methodology and understand change management.

  5. Demonstrated organizational abilities and leadership skills.

  6. Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

  7. Ability to handle multiple initiatives in a fast paced environment with tight deadlines.

  8. Possess strong influencing, coaching, communication and facilitative skills with the ability to bring teams together to achieve targets and goals.

  9. Experience using MS Office applications (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel).

  10. Willingness to travel up to 75%.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS* *

  1. Project Management, PMP, Certification

  2. Experience in project management in a large, complex, and multi-location projects with significant results.

  3. Knowledge and understanding of freight movement management processes

WORKING CONDITIONS


This job operates primarily in Field Operations at terminal locations with exposure to varying levels of noise, dust, hours of operation and temperature. Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Occasionally

The position requires the ability to spend long hours sitting or standing while using office equipment and computers. Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as typing and keying. Occasional lifting, pushing/pulling, carrying 10 lbs of supplies and materials is required.
