Maintain Logistics Audit Matrix, which is a summary of all key controls for each business unit. Update key financial controls as required. Conduct preventative financial, system and compliance audits for the Logistics business unit of RRD and ensure proper documentation of key controls and processes are maintained and updated. This involves planning audits by evaluating the complexity and risk of each business, adjusting the scope of the audit procedures accordingly and coordinating with internal and external audit requirements. This position reports directly to the VP of Finance for RR Donnelley Logistics. Flexible work schedule with minimal travel required, as majority of responsibilities are centralized at the logistics business unit located in Bolingbrook, IL.


Work is typically performed under minimal daily supervision, receiving guidance from VP of Finance and Group Controller about the work that needs to be completed and the timing of upcoming audits and procedures. A high level of discretion and latitude must be exercised in completing tasks.

  • Conduct financial and compliance audits and operational reviews of our businesses. This involves planning audits by evaluating the complexity and risk of the audit client and adjusting the scope of the audit procedures accordingly.

  • Plan reviews based on key areas or businesses identified by Logistics management.

  • Maintain DLS Audit Matrix based on changes in the business, process updates, system enhancements etc.

  • Establish annual audit calendar to ensure processes and controls are in continual review.

  • Review the suitability of internal control design and be able to offer improvements.

  • Conduct audit testing of specified area and identify reportable issues and dimension of risk.

  • Determine compliance with policies and procedures.

  • Full detailed testing on a quarterly basis of all Logistics balance sheet reconciliations, including being able to identify issues and lead to resolution. This also includes driving improvement in documentation techniques and support in those reconciliations.

  • Lead project to identify and implement system that can store and keep track of all documentation.

  • Communicate issues found in test work and reviews to Logistics Management.

  • Work to identify short and long term solutions as appropriate.

  • Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.

  • Tailor test work around previously identified problem areas from Internal and External audit and ensure proper procedures are in place and are operating effectively, evidenced by successful independent testing.

  • Work as team with Group Controller to ensure Logistics has very successful internal and external audits in the future through this preventative audit work.

  • Work with operations and sales teams on specific business driven objectives to improve efficiency/profitability

  • Lead contact to work with Internal and External audit team to ensure requests are completed timely and are reviewed to ensure they are complete.

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting with 5+ years of experience as an auditor, with a minimum of 3 years as a senior auditor. Preference given to an individual with experience as an external auditor for a large national firm.

  • Able to demonstrate ability to solve somewhat more complex problems by analyzing variables and applying appropriate solutions learned through experience and proficiency in understanding the job.

  • Must be able to recognize anomalies and critical situations and respond appropriately.

  • Must be able to communicate and interact with a variety of internal/external customers and/or co-workers at level of detail required to resolve issues of moderate complexity.

  • Able to apply strong functional computer knowledge in utilizing Microsoft Windows, MAC, or other technical tools in completing assignments. May require knowledge of or ability to quickly learn specialized software to complete work assignments.

  • Able to demonstrate continued expertise in the primary tools or applications used in completing daily work assignments.

  • Requires very good communication skills with ability to state messages in a clear manner by using language that is easy for others to understand.

  • Must be able to proactively listen to others to understand issues and situations.

  • Must be able to clearly articulate business needs to both internal and external customers.
